As the end of summer approaches, Community Access' East Village Access (EVA) is busy preparing a range of new workshops, events, and activities for the Fall – some of which are already up and running.
Here's a quick guide to get you fully up to speed.
Specialized Vocational Services:
Now available at EVA on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jordan Freeman and Elizabeth Blank, together with Josh Ramos, our career specialist, will be offering vocational services to all Community Access residents and EVA PROS participants. Topics covered include resume building, searching for a job, work readiness, interview practice, and more. Let us know if you are interested: either we can make an appointment for you, or you can just drop by and ask for more information.
Monthly Community Dinners:
Starting with an end of summer BBQ on Wednesday, September 21st at 4 p.m.
Monthly Movie Afternoon:
Starting on Friday, September 23rd at 2:30 p.m., look forward to the fun, education, and insight of EVA's new Monthly Movie Afternoon, a feel-good mix of classic films, popcorn, conversation, and relaxation.
Creative Writing Workshop:
Every Monday, beginning October 3rd at 2 p.m. All are welcome!
Legal Workshops:
Open to all Community Access residents and EVA PROS participants, and starting in October, we will begin a series of Legal Workshops to address issues such as: your rights as a person with a mental illness, how to act when you encounter a police officer, what happens if you get arrested, tips for small claims court, custody issues, and filing an order of protection. More details coming soon – stay posted for details.
New Courses & Groups:
Beginning in October, we will have a new EVA calendar with new course offerings, including more counseling groups for those who want to explore particular issues in depth, spirituality groups, and groups centered around forming meaningful relationships with friends and family. And more!
EVA Open House & One Year Anniversary Celebration:
On Wednesday, October 12th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., join us in celebrating our One Year Anniversary at the next EVA Open House! As we look back over the year since we opened, we'll be looking ahead to the future, too - and you can learn more about our groups and activities, have a snack, and socialize!
Halloween Party:
Monday October 31st – with prizes for the best costumes!
